Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield Site
Brices Cross Roads was the site of a major Civil War battle that took place on June 10, 1864.
Brices Cross Roads was fought five miles west of Baldwyn.
The Brices Cross Roads Visitor and Interpretive Center is located close to the intersection of US Highway 45 to Mississippi Highway 370. The visitor center's "Forrest's Finest Hour" exhibit tells the story of the battle, the opposing armies, and the leaders and personalities involved. The centerpiece of the exhibition features a beautifully done battlefield model that uses over 1,500 finely painted miniatures to show the final stages of the battle. Several of the exhibits have interactive features. The visitors center preserves and display a collection of interesting Civil War artifacts, many from the Brice's Crossroads battlefield. In addition to its exhibit gallery, the center also features a media room. Here visitors can see "The Battle of Brice's Crossroads," a 22-minute video program. The video uses battle reenactment footage, animated maps, photographs and period artwork to bring the June 10, 1864 battle vividly to life.
