The Museum of Mississippi History encourages people to explore and appreciate our state's history. The museum presents rich and complex stories that illustrate how our shared past influences our future together.

Located in the heart of downtown Jackson, the museum explores over 15,000 years of state history. Visitors will enjoy innovative exhibits, educational programs, and hundreds of artifacts. The Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum opened on December 9, 2017, in celebration of the state’s bicentennial.

Visitor Hours:
Tuesday thru Saturday: 9am - 5pm
Sunday: 11am - 5pm (the museum is free on Sundays)
Monday: closed

Visitors are encouraged to purchase their tickets online at tickets.mdah.ms.gov.
