The fall 2023 Forks of Cypress Historic Home Site & Cemetery Historic Walking Tour will be held on Saturday, November 4th at 10am.

The Forks of Cypress Historic Home was one of the oldest antebellum mansions in Alabama. It was built in 1822 by James Jackson, one of the first settlers in Lauderdale County and a friend of Andrew Jackson. This walking tour takes place twice a year and are the only times the historic Forks of Cypress is open to the public. Harry Wallace, whose family owned the nearly 200-year-old antebellum plantation house will be conducting the tour.

Admission is free. Be sure to bring a lawn chair and a blanket in case it’s cold out.

Directions to the site areas follows: Take Cox Creek Parkway to Jackson Road and turn right (no traffic signal at intersection) and turn right at the dead end. Park along the road or enter the gate to park in the field leading to the columns. Please note that the tour date is subject to change due to weather.
