Located in downtown Florence, Alabama, Pope's Tavern Museum preserves and interprets the site of a historic inn and stagecoach stop.

Pope's Tavern's history goes all the way back to Alabama's territorial period in the early 1800s. The structure that exists today and is home to the museum was built sometime in the first half of the nineteenth century. Over the years the building has been an inn, a private residence, a command center for both Northern and Southern armies during the Civil War and since the 1960s, a museum owned by the city of Florence.

Pope's Tavern & Museum houses a wealth of local and Civil War history, a rare Kennedy Long Rifle, a Confederate Colonel's uniform, a vertically strung piano-one of only four ever made.
